Supporting the next generation of creatives
Founded in 2016, Meet a Mentor is a bespoke and carefully curated mentoring programme, aiming to pair talented creatives seeking entry and sustained employment in the creative and digital industries with highly networked and experienced mentors working within those industries.
Meet a Mentor ISN'T about stuffy, irrelevant, one-way conversations. It's about creating networks, self-development and encouraging honest and productive conversations about the creative industries.
We have found that by encouraging the building of relationships between our mentees and mentors, they develop bonds that stretch beyond the programme, creating new networks and renewed confidence to proceed in a world that all too often is about who you know rather than what you know or how well you do it.
Our inspiring talks have been delivered by talented people across the arts and creative industries, including DJ and Broadcaster Nihal Arthanayake, former Young Poet Laureate for London Selina Nwulu, Creative Director Ronojoy Dam, Visual Storyteller Harris Elliott, poet James Massiah, DJ and Presenter Jamz Supernova, DJ Paulette, Director and Photographer Meji Alabi, screenwriter Leon Mayne, Photographer and Director Leonn Ward , and hosts of Brown Girls Do It Too, Poppy Jay and Rubina Pabani.
Founded by Fran Plowright, a curator and creative learning consultant working at the intersection between youth culture and industry.
In Spring 2024, Meet a Mentor is working alongside Dermot O’ Leary’s Tuskar Trust and Fremantle UK to run the Learning the Ropes programme. Learning the Ropes is a 6-month mentoring programme for young creatives aged 18-30 - currently underrepresented in the TV industry - who are looking to get into all areas of TV Production and Digital Content Creation.
